Spokane 2011/2012

Our annual trip to Spokane had a wrench thrown in the plans this year. My job and the fact that I took off a week when Kole was in the hospital, and the minor fact that it is their year-end, I wasn't going anywhere. I couldn't get out of work but I wanted the family to go.  So against our better judgement, I sent Rory off to Washington with three kids. Bryce was kind enough to go with him to try and help but even with his help, Rory struggled.  Between the 14 hour road-trip, lack of sleep, and excited kids, Rory had reached his breaking point.

On Thursday night my boss said we could take Friday off. I took the first flight out of SLC to join my family. Good thing I did. I'm not sure my kids would of made it back alive and to be honest -  I missed them terribly. There are not a lot of pictures, but it was a great time for all.

Kole in the magical swing. This swing has been enjoyed by all of my kids throughout the years.

Bryce relaxing, enjoying his Diet Coke. The love for Diet Coke runs in the family.

Kole chillin in the bedroom.

Who can resist that smile?

These trips always involve a few games with GG.

Bryce came down with a terrible cold while we were there. He would drink NyQuil like it was water and then this would happen. Go figure he doesn't remember most of the trip.

Saige and Grandpa Tom.

This is the annual New's Years Eve Bash at Grandma's. If you haven't seen posts from previous years this is quite the event. Grandma is always prepared with a lot of activities for the kids and we do pop-rockets on the kitchen floor. It drives Rory nuts, but the kids love it. One of their favorite memories.
This year she created these hats. The kids could decorate them with all sorts of stickers and markers. We joke they looked like KKK hats. I can't imagine what people would think if they saw these things around town.

The famous 'hat-maker'.
The pop-rockets on the kitchen floor. A good time by all (except Rory).

And this is how Grandpa celebrated New Year's Eve. The NyQuil again.....but at least he had his hat on. :-) One of the funniest pictures I've seen in a long time.

All of the Grandkids jumping on the bed. They have glow-in-the-dark sticks and having the time of their lives

This trip is the highlight of our year. We look forward to it. With my job, we may have to change the date next year. I'll be so sad to miss these traditions. Rory's family is always so hospitable. They give up their beds, couches, and bathroom for my family to crash for a week. These are the memories my kids will cherish and I really appreciate their love.

Thanks for having us, can't wait to come back!

Looks like you guys had a great time. Go Rory for even attempting that long of a drive with the kids without you. I'm so happy to hear you were able to fly out and join in the fun!

YAY for pop rocks on the kitchen floor! I love this post. Miss you - and I miss hearing stories about how Rory is way more OCD than me. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! What a brave guy for taking the kids to Spokane without you. Sometimes those guys do things we wouldn't do ourselves. I'm glad you got to join him ;)
